Solar
Denver is proud to be one of 25 Solar America Cities designated through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar America Communities program. With an average of 300 sunny days per year, Denver has the 5th best solar potential in the country. Greenprint Denver partnered with Denver Public Schools through a joint Solar Power Purchase Agreement to install solar PV systems on 28 schools (which now incorporate solar education into their curriculum).
The City and County of Denver currently has an installed capacity of 9.4 MW. This includes 3 solar photovoltaic arrays at Denver International Airport totaling 8.0 MW, with the remaining systems installed on 16 buildings (including the Colorado Convention Center and Denver Museum of Nature and Science). Many of the installations have software that allows for full time monitoring and reporting so occupants and visitors can see how much electricity is being generated.
