Bellevue-Hale Green Team

Steps to building a neighborhood Green Team

The Greenprint staff is working with Denver residents to help build Green Teams and begin the process of bringing sustainability to your neighborhood – one block at a time. Your neighborhood Green Team will be equipped to offer energy efficiency and weatherization resources to every home and help your neighbors save money on their utilities and help protect the environment.

What is a Green Team?

A Green Team is a group of friends, family and or neighbors who are interested learning more about energy efficiency and want to work as a community to reduce carbon emission, and save money on energy bills. They are willing to take action on behalf of their community to “get the ball rolling”.

Why form a Green Team?

- To save money – To share your knowledge with your neighbors  – To live a healthy life in a healthy community – To protect the environment  – To bring energy efficiency and weatherization resources to your community. These include: free residential household recycling, free income-qualified weatherization, subsidized home energy audits, junk mail reduction, free CFL porch bulbs, street trees

What do you do when you have a team?

Call Denise Stepto (720-865-9052)  in the Greenprint Denver office and she  will come to your first meeting.

The Greenprint Office will continue to work with you to define your goals and decide the best outreach method for your community. Several neighborhoods in Denver have completed a Neighborhood Blitz; a door-to-door canvass model of their neighborhood offering resources at each home. Another approach might be to host a picnic, potluck or BarBQ at your neighborhood community center, church or on your block and share this information at with the group.

Greenprint staff will help you:

- Build your team – Determine what outreach method is best for your community (a blitz or event) – Develop your materials – Communicate to your community – Enlist volunteers – Canvass or set up an event – Collect and calculate your data – Make sure all services are delivered – Provide your team receives a complete report on your results.
