Convention vendors have sustainable option

The Denver Business Journal
December 19, 2007

Businesses and vendors selling goods and services at the Democratic National Convention next August have the option to promote that they're sustainable businesses, convention officials announced Wednesday.

The Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee will use the new Green Business Designation -- the first of its kind for a national political convention -- to identify businesses that use sustainable practices in its vendor directory.

The committee joined the City and County of Denver, the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, the Colorado Alliance of Sustainable Business Associations and Greenprint Denver to create the Green Business Designation.

The vendor directory has more than 1,000 businesses registered to sell goods at the convention, to be held Aug. 25-28, 2008, in Denver.

All registered vendors have the option to designate their companies as sustainable in leadership, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste and pollution reduction, community involvement, working conditions and education.
