Denver Unveils New High Efficiency Toilets
CBS 4 News
July 9, 2007
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper unveiled the first of more than 130 high efficiency toilets the city will be using during a news conference on Friday.
The toilets will be installed in the City and County Building as part of the Greenprint Denver plan.
The toilets should save 900,000 gallons of water each year, according to the city.
"But if the rest of the city does it and we combine it with, as you see out here, we have a xeriscape garden right here between Bannock and the City and County building that does use any water," Hickenlooper said. "If we continue demonstrating you can have beautiful landscaping without any water, you can have a high quality experience, high quality life and use less water, that's how we're going to get to the kind of water savings we've been working with Denver Water to achieve."
The Greenprint Denver plan calls for 22 percent reduction in water use by 2015.
