Denver's Holiday Lights Get Energy Efficient Makeover

Fox 31 News
November 23, 2007

City lights properties with new LED lights

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper recently announced his climate action plan.

Part of that plan is to reduce energy usage, and save money.

So, that presented a new challenge for the people who decorate the city’s property with holiday lights.

The lights needed to be replaced with LED lights, which are much more energy efficient.

The city encourages retailers and residents to use LED lights this season to save energy and money in the long-run.

LED lights are a little more expensive, but they eventually pay for themselves because they last longer than standard lights, and they use so much less energy that the savings that way will add up fast.

LED lights are brighter, and most people think they have richer color.
