Greenprint Denver Receives CAEE Award

On March 2, Mayor John Hickenlooper and the Greenprint Denver team were awarded the 2006 President's Award from the Board of Directors of the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education, a nonprofit coalition of more than 600 members who support a common vision of improving environmental literacy in Colorado.
The awards program honors leadership in developing innovative, effective, cooperative, and cross-sector environmental education programs and partnerships. Recipients are individuals and organizations that have made significant and lasting contributions to environmental education in Colorado.
In addition to the President's Award, Wendy Hanopy from the Colorado Division of Wildlife was presented the Enos Mills Lifetime Achievement Award, and ten program awards were given, including:
- Citizen/Community Award: Cottonwood Institute's Community Adventure Program
- Citizen/Community Award: Front Range Earth Force
- Best New Program Award: Majestic View Nature Center's WaterWise! School Program and Water Conservation Contest
- PreK-12 Award: Aurora Water's Youth Water Festival
- PreK-12 Award: Fishing is Fun for Everyone (Manitou Springs Schools)
- Government Award: Arkansas Headwaters Junior Rangers
- Higher Education Award: iCAST (International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology)
- Business Award: Raytheon Polar Services Company (United States Antarctic Program)
- NonProfit Award: G.R.O.W. Growing Respect by Observing our World
- Religious/Spiritual Award: Animas Valley Institute
CAEE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting quality environmental education opportunities and increasing the effectiveness of environmental education by facilitating communication, coordination and professional development among environmental education providers in the state.
