A Conversation with Global Warming Activist Laurie David
March 20, 2007
Mayor John Hickenlooper will host and moderate an exceptional evening on May 3 with Laurie David, producer of the Academy Award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, starring former Vice President Al Gore.
David is a nationally recognized global warming activist whose dedication for protecting the environment is reflected throughout her work, including the Stop Global Warming Virtual March at www.stopglobalwarming.org, which she founded with Senator John McCain and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
This nonpartisan effort is bringing together religious leaders, labor unions, elected officials, business leaders, and everyday Americans to declare that global warming is here now, and it's time to act.
In addition to An Inconvenient Truth and the Virtual March, David has produced several other projects that bring the issue of global warming into mainstream popular culture - including the release of her first book, The Solution is You: Stop Global Warming - An Activist's Guide, the comedy special, Earth to America!, and HBO's documentary film Too Hot Not To Handle.
In October 2006, David was honored by and featured in Glamour Magazine as one of its "Women of the Year," for her tireless mission to stop global warming. Earlier last year, she received the prestigious Gracie Allen Award for Individual Achievement from the American Women in Radio & Television organization, and the Natural Resources Defense Council's 2006 Forces for Nature award.
Please join us, the Denver Public Library's Fresh City Life Program, the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, and Westword for this special evening with Laurie David and Mayor Hickenlooper at the Colorado Convention Center.
