make your tree count

Planting a tree can help stop global warming. Trees use nutrients like carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium - all byproducts of urban living. In fact, a single tree will absorb about 1.3 tons of carbon dioxide over its average 70-year lifespan.

A Community Project

Tree by Tree – The Mile High Million is a metro-wide tree planting initiative. More than 40 cities, counties, park districts and organizations in the Denver area are participating in the program and encouraging the planting of trees within their communities and neighborhoods.

Who Can Participate

Everyone is encouraged to participate in this campaign by planting trees, informing us of tree plantings, and volunteering time to tree planting organizations.

How to Register Your Tree

If you're planting a tree anywhere in the metro area, please take a moment to register it! Call (720) 913-1311 (or within Denver, call 311) to report your tree planting. You can also submit your tree information online.

More Information

Tree by Tree – The Mile High Million is administered through the City and County of Denver's Parks and Recreation Department, as part of Greenprint Denver. For more information, e-mail Sara Davis or call (720) 913-0631.
